Vincent Ngethe

Writer and Columnist, Debunk Media

Vincent Ng’ethe is a writer and columnist at Debunk Media with an abiding interest in the environment and urban affairs. He most recently established and ran the fact-checking desk at the Kenya Editors Guild during the 2022 general election.

Previously, he was Africa Check’s Deputy Kenya Editor. His work ranges across budgets, public debt, Covid-19 statistics, obesity, road traffic accidents, manipulated photos and videos, education and water in informal settlements. Before joining Africa Check in December 2017, he was an Online Sub Editor at the Nation Media Group, and the founding sub-editor for Newsplex, the Daily Nation’s data journalism desk, which won the continent-wide 2017 English language African Fact-Checking Awards.

His work has been featured on the BBC show The Breakdown. He has also appeared on Al Jazeera, DW, ZDF, BBC Newsday, NTV Kenya, KTN, and TV47, among others. Vincent has provided fact-checking training to journalists across East and Central Africa, both virtual and in-person. Vincent attended Trent University on a Trent International Programme Full Scholarship and graduated in 2006 with an Honours Degree in Geography and Environmental Science.
